Christmas is closing in, and one of the most important Christmas decorations is, of course, the Christmas tree. I believe this is the center of your living room each Christmas, which is why you need to spend time decorating this beautiful centerpiece. I have created the only guide you need on how to decorate a Christmas tree. So, let’s dive in and start decorating!
And as always, share your tips and tricks in the comments so that we can help each other to decorate the most beautiful Christmas Trees. Also, if you want to, share some pictures!
The first question you want to ask yourself is whether you want a real or artificial Christmas tree. I think that it is both more economical and easier to invest in a beautiful artificial tree. These will hold their shape and stay beautiful all throughout the season. The next question you want to ask yourself is how big tree you want. Do you want as big as you can fit or just a small one? Make sure it’s the right size for your space!
If you end up with an artificial tree it’s important to make sure you fluff the branches in order to show off its full potential.
Next, the step is to add beautiful string lights to set the atmosphere. I recommend starting at the top and then working your way down to get the light’s effect at the bottom. As you work your way down, remember to weave the lights around the branches and ensure you achieve even coverage for a beautiful look.
Also, a little tip is to make sure that all the lights work before placing them on the tree!
In order to create a whole atmosphere, you need to decide on what colors you should go for. What colors do you have in the rest of the room? Red and gold? Blue and silver? Green and white? Choose colors that complement your existing decor and enhance the overall ambiance of your space. Get tips on different Christmas living rooms here.
Now that you know your color combinations, you can start layering with garlands – if you choose to add them. Garlands will make your tree look fuller and more extravagant. However, if you’re going for a simpler, more elegant look, I would recommend skipping the garlands.
So, now for the fun part – the ornaments. Start with bigger ornaments at the bottom and make them smaller the higher on the tree you get. For an interesting look – add a variety of ornaments, such as the typical round ornament as well as maybe a bow or a nutcracker. Just remember to stay to one cohesive theme.
When you’re done with the ornaments it’s time to add a tree topper. It could be a star or an angel.
Make the finishing touches with smaller decorations such as pine cones, flowers or beads to fill in any gaps. These will add extra flair and texture.
Now for the final part – the tree skirt, place it at the base to catch fallen needles and in order to provide a finished look. Then step back and look over your tree in order to see if there is any adjustments needed.
In conclusion, decorating your Christmas tree is a wonderful way to express your personal style and create a festive atmosphere in your home. Remember, the joy of decorating comes not only from the finished product but also from the process itself. Take your time, enjoy the creativity, and most importantly, share your own tips and beautiful tree photos in the comments!
